1. What advice would you give students looking to start an Irish dance team at their college or university?
To anyone looking to create an Irish Dance Club on campus, I would say go for it! Having this new group of students has been such a gift for each and every one of us, creating very close friendships along the way. We found that having motivated, dedicated students makes the world of difference in advancing your goals! Spreading the word on social media was also very beneficial in establishing ourselves on campus.
2. What campus resources did you find the most helpful as you started the Irish Dance team at your school?
The Office of Student Involvement and Student Government Association were huge contributors in the process to create this club. We began through the existing Holy Cross Dance Ensemble club who generously took us in as an extension, giving us the ability to rent practice spaces and perform in showcases.
3. What do you love most about College Irish Dance?
Since joining CIDA, we have loved the community and support from other dance groups at different colleges. Everyone was so kind and welcoming and really made us feel like we belonged!
